I just finished watching the Samsung Unpacked event in Barcelona this morning, and I am really impressed. They announced the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. There are a few key things I picked up that are the most important to you about these new devices!
Camera: They made the camera “always on” in the sense that the process for it will be constantly running in the background, so that when you need to snap a picture it will load up the camera in .7 seconds! You can also access the camera super easily by double tapping the home button. The forward facing camera is amazing, and using a lens that makes low light photos extremely bright. The back camera is even better with a 16 MP camera and the same lens.
Wireless Charging: The phone also has wireless charging built right in. With the announcement from IKEA of lamps and other furniture with built in charging stations, pretty soon, no matter where you are setting your phone down, you could also be charging it! I really love this feature, and can’t wait to see how it starts popping up more and more into restaurants, book stores, etc.
Battery: This is another hot button topic for everyone. Battery life is extremely important, but we will all run out of juice at some point. In just 10 minutes you can charge for 4 more hours of use! I think that’s fantastic. If you have 10 minutes between flights, or 10 minutes between taking one kid to piano and the other kid to soccer, you can get a second wind from your phone and get you through the rest of the day!
The edge: I really love that Samsung, with the Note Edge and with this new S6 Edge didn’t just make a curved screen to make it curved. There is a purpose to it. The edge can give you quick access to notifications and other tasks you do regularly, where it won’t get in the way of the normal day to day interaction with your apps. I mean who wants to interrupt an awesome pinning session?
So, basically, I’m excited. The new devices will be available on April 10th! Can’t wait!
