I like Twitter. I really like Facebook. But Instagram? Instagram and I are inseparable. It’s a VERY big deal to me, and so are the photos that I post. I have been both envious and inspired lately of photographers who are constantly posting glorious photos taken directly from their smartphones. And it’s really helped me to realize it’s not just about knowing how to take great photos, the tools you use can be just as important too. You really need a camera and lens that enhance your work, and give you room to grow. Now that I shoot most of my families photos with my smart phone, it’s a big deal to me to have a camera that captures all of those fabulous moments right to my phone where I can instantly share them to Instagram. And Facebook and Twitter too of course. 🙂
So what cell phone have I found to meet all of my photography needs? Are you ready for some seriously amazing cell phone eye candy??? It’s the Android based Samsung S4 Zoom my friends, and she is gorgeous.
I feel like I need to clarify.. yes it is a cell phone. No really, it is! The Samsung S4 Zoom has this incredibly low profile, and with a twist of the zoom ring around the lens, it expands to an incredible 10x optical zoom. The pictures it takes are ah-freaking-mazing, and the 16 megapixel camera is bound to upstage any of your Instagram friends.
I know what you are thinking… can it do all of the same things my cell phone will do? Yup. Everything. And I have tested all of the important apps too… Facebook, Angry Birds, YouTube. I even watched an entire movie on Netflix on this baby. Again, yes. It really is a phone. I know, I know, it took me a while to really get it too.
When I tested out my new lovely phone, I was honestly worried about the battery life. I take a lot of pictures, and my old iPhone always needed to be charged multiple times during the day. No issues with the S4 Zoom. It has been tested to last over nine hours of continues video play, eight and a half hours of web browsing, and over fifteen hours of talk time. Gah! That is amazing.
A few more amazing features are:
- Runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
- MicroSD card slot
- 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display
- Gorilla Glass 3 for an extra layer of protection
- Pinch and zoom capabilities
- Access to the Google Play Store
- 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM
- 25 “Smart” scene modes
- Xenon flash to help shoot in low light conditions
I really think this is where cell phones are headed friends. Photography is such a big deal to people. Why not give consumers the best tools to take really great photos, right?
All right, enough bragging about my new phone. Ready to see some of the photos I have taken?? I shot these while in New York last week, and all are straight out of the camera trying out various custom settings.
