Honda Odyssey Built in Cooler

2014-01-07 09.47.25

I’m heading to Las Vegas for CES today!  Since I’m road trippin’ it down to Vegas in my Honda Odyssey I thought I’d take a minute to show you one of my favorite features!  Since I live in Utah, and right now it’s COLD, this hasn’t been super useful yet, so I was excited to try it out on my trip to Vegas.  Right now in Utah, I could leave ice cream sitting in the trunk for hours and it would be fine.  On a road trip, that’s a different story all together.  Especially since I’ve got the heat running in the car for the 5 hour trip.

This features is a little cooler that is built right into the front console of the car.  It’s big enough for a few water bottles and several snacks that are perfect for healthy road trip food.  There is a button you can press called “cool box” which will blow cool air into the box while you are driving.  This is seriously one of the smartest ideas I’ve ever heard of!  Every road trip I’ve taken (if you have any hope of snacking/eating healthy) requires a cooler.  You have to purchase ice for the cooler, by the time you get some real distance and start wanting to eat your snacks, the ice is melting or melted, and everything starts getting warm.  Not to mention the space the cooler takes up that could be used for other more important items.

During my trip to Vegas I kept our water bottles in the cooler.  I’d open it up and take a drink, and my water was always perfectly cool.  It was super easy to access while driving as well.  I didn’t even have to take my eyes off the road for a second.  It also came in super handy, because my daughter picked at a bump she had on her thumb.  It looked like maybe it was a blister.  When it popped, she was in a lot of pain.  I took out her water bottle and had her hold it to her thumb, and the crisis was averted!  I didn’t even have to pull over, making the trip go much more quickly!

I think I’ll need a cooler in every car I own now.
