Enough With the Patent Wars Already!

If you don’t follow tech news, you may not even be aware of all the lawsuits thrown about on a daily basis by most of the tech companies around.

So here’s what’s been going on Microsoft’s suing Motorola, Motorola is suing Apple, Apple is suing just about everybody.  From my favorite tech companies, to companies I barely know anything about, to the tech companies I hate the most… everyone is to blame, and I’m here to say JUST STOP!

It’s all about patents, and who was the first to invent what.  Apple claims that any phone that uses a swipe to unlock is infringing on their patent.  REALLY??  That’s the great innovation that you are going to stop other phones from shipping because you can swipe your finger to unlock their devices?  It’s just getting completely ridiculous.

So who are the winners in this patent war?  It’s for sure not the consumers.  It’s DEFINITELY not small businesses and true innovators.  It’s the lawyers.  The big highly paid corporate attorneys.  The ones that rake in a few hundred thousand every time they bring one of these lawsuits to court.  Where does Apple and the other companies get this money to pay their high priced attorneys?  From raising the prices on their devices.

Not that articles like this don’t make me happy, cause man, that would be kinda awesome if Motorola was able to prevent all iPhones and iPads from being able to be sold.  Even I, though, can’t get behind this lawsuit.

I feel like I’m back in the 90’s with the phrase “Can’t we all just get along?”

So please, everyone, drop the lawsuits, and start concentrating on making something truly innovative.  CREATE.  BUILD.  BE AWESOME.  Stop worrying about what the other company is doing, and let the consumer decide which products they like the best.
