If you’ve been here a while, you KNOW how much I love my Hallmark Christmas Movies! I was disappointed with the release of the Hallmark streaming service, Hallmark Movies Now. The streaming service from Hallmark is terrible. It doesn’t have the newest movies and has a VERY limited selection. It also doesn’t allow you stream Hallmark channel live, or watch the shows as they air.
Never fear though! Finally, someone figured out how to stream Hallmark channel RIGHT! I am so excited about this service, I just had to talk about it. Just launched this year FrndlyTV is going to be my go-to for streaming the Hallmark Channel from now on!
Stream Hallmark Channel on Several Platforms
FrndlyTV is available as an app on iOS, Android, Roku, Amazon Fire and Chromecast. You should be able to find a platform that you have access to with these options. I generally watch content on my Roku, but in a pinch, I love that I can pull it up on my phone as well.
Available Channels
The service doesn’t just have the main Hallmark Channel. It also has Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and Hallmark Drama. FrndlyTV doesn’t stop there though. The service includes the Game Show Network, Baby First TV, Weather Channel, and a few others. If only it had the Olympic Channel too, it would be just about the perfect service for me.
Cost
For only $5.99 a month, you can be streaming all the family-friendly content you want! You can try it out for 7 days for free to see if you really want to subscribe though. There are 3 packages to choose from.
- Basic Package – 1 screen/device at a time. (SD quality shows) $5.99/month
- Classic Package – 2 screens/devices at the same time. (HD shows and 30 days of DVR Recordings) $7.99
- Premium Package – 4 screens/devices at the same time. (HD Shows and 90 days of DVR Recordings) $9.99
User Interface
People love to look through TV channels with a grid interface. It is what we are most familiar with, and how most of us still like to find shows to watch. The grid is smooth and allows you to navigate through the shows quickly. I was able to scroll over to the weekend in no time to make sure I set the new Hallmark Movies to be recorded.
The search allows you to find your favorite Hallmark Movie quickly, or you can browse through the On-Demand content. The interface is very clean and intuitive.
If you “record” something, you are able to rewind and fast forward, but you don’t have to record it when it airs. You can browse to the on-demand section and select the show you want and tell it to “record”. The show immediately becomes available in your recordings.
You don’t get to fast forward and rewind on regular on-demand content though, so you will have to record it if you have the plan that allows DVR recording. However, you can rewind a live show to the beginning and then fast forward from there. So if you remember that it’s time for a new Hallmark Movie a little bit too late, you can still go back to the beginning.
Content
Here is where FrndlyTV really shines though. You can watch all of the included channels live, or you can browse through the On-Demand content, which is just about everything that has aired in the last month or so. If I forgot to record one of the new movies, it’s right there for On-Demand viewing. If you don’t have the DVR option, you can just watch all of the movies On-Demand after they air on live TV.
But wait, there’s more! My absolute FAVORITE podcast, Deck the Hallmark, video records each episode, and it is available to watch in the On-Demand section of the app. The podcast features 3 guys as they break down each Hallmark Christmas movies. One of them LOVES Hallmark Christmas movies, one just LIKES Hallmark Christmas movies, and one DESPISES Hallmark Christmas movies, and together they are hilarious.
So, not only is the user interface amazing, the content is amazing, and the cost is totally worth it! FrndlyTV is everything the official Hallmark streaming app should have been and so much more. Now I can use any streaming service I want. I do still like Sling, so I may stick with that. Now the possibilities are ENDLESS though! I may have to give YouTube TV another shot.
