Top 10 Super Bowl Commercials for 2020 and Two Duds

My top 10 Super Bowl Commercials for 2020, and had to throw in the 2 that I thought were the absolute worst. Which were your favorites?

The Super Bowl is one of my favorite nights of the year. One of my best friends throws a great party with all my other best friends, and we have an amazing time. This year was even better because my 49ers finally made it back to the Super Bowl!! (don’t talk to me about the 4th quarter, I’m still in mourning). I was born in the bay area, AND my 3rd great grandfather was literally a 49er who had a gold mine in Calaveras County, CA in the 1850’s.

Typically though, I could care less about the actual football game, and LOVE watching the commercials. This year, of course, did not disappoint. Here are my top 10 Super Bowl Commercials for 2020, and I had to throw in the 2 that I thought were the absolute worst.

#1. Smaht Pahk | 2020 Hyundai Sonata | Hyundai

So, aside from the fact that Chris Evans is my boyfriend… it’s still a fantastic commercial. I love those Boston accents! The only thing that would have made it even better is if they got Mark Wahlberg to participate as well.

#2. Walmart Super Bowl Commercial 2020 | Famous Visitors :60

As a huge movie fanatic, I absolutely LOVED this commercial. Hands down, the best part was the past and future Bill S. Preston Esquire!

#3. Loretta | Google Super Bowl Commercial 2020

Every year a few companies go for sentimental instead of hilarious or crazy. Google went this route and did an amazing job with it. The spot wasn’t so in your face about pulling on your heartstrings, but it definitely yanked hard. I have to admit… I cried.

#4. Jimmy Works It Out | Michelob ULTRA | Super Bowl LIV

I LOOOOVEEEE Jimmy Fallon, and this commercial had his quick with and great comedic timing. Favorite parts include accidentally tossing the kettlebell through the window and the running on the track where he says “this is how I die”

#5. Jeep® | “Groundhog Day” | Bill Murray | 02.02.2020

Jeep was the clever company to utilize the most popular reference to the holiday that happens to also fall on the Super Bowl this year, Groundhog Day. With Bill Murray reprising his role, and several others from the movie as well, Jeep made a fantastic commercial that was both super funny and relevant.

#6. Cheetos® | Can’t Touch This | SUPER BOWL LIV OFFICIAL EXTENDED VIDEO

As a child of the 80’s/90’s I love a good throwback to the “good ol’ days”. MC Hammer popping up singing his most popular song to show how you can get out of doing things if you have Cheetos all over your hands was so funny! I especially love the end when the Hammer pants get brought back.

#7. Amazon Super Bowl Commercial 2020 – #BeforeAlexa

As a huge fan of smart home devices, although I prefer Google, I definitely loved to see how people used “Alexa” in the past. Plus I just love Ellen, so the whole thing worked from beginning to end.

#8. Jason Momoa Super Bowl Commercial 2020 | Rocket Mortgage

The best part of this commercial is the very end when Lisa Bonet is there to help “spot” Jason Momoa when he’s doing a bench press. The rest of it is funny, but is clearly CG, especially when he’s taking off his “6-pack”. It’s still a pretty good commercial.

#9. Doritos® | The Cool Ranch feat. Lil Nas X and Sam Elliott

This would probably be higher on the list if I liked westerns a bit more, but I don’t. Still, it’s a pretty funny commercial. The two best parts are Sam Elliotts mustache dance, and when his horse refuses to make a spectacle of itself.

#10. #SnickersFixtheWorld – Full Version

Finally, while I thought the idea of the commercial was really funny, I don’t think the execution quite hit the mark. It was a super clever idea though. I really liked the message, for sure. The funniest part is definitely the end with the couple trying to take a selfie.

The absolute WORST commercials of the night

#1. TurboTax 2020 Super Bowl Commercial “All People Are Tax People Remix” (Official :45) TV Ad

I feel like TurboTax was trying to invent some sort of new fad dance like the floss. It just ended up looking weird instead. I don’t think the “dance” will catch on, and the song was super annoying.

#2. Audi Presents: Let It Go

So, as the commercial starts out, she’s in gridlock traffic, and then suddenly, she’s not? She starts singing the Frozen song, which is so overplayed it’s definitely not a thing anymore… like maybe if this was 3 years ago it would make sense, but at this point.. eh?? The commercial did NOT make any sense, and definitely missed the mark.
