We only live about a mile from the Elementary school that my son attends. It’s slightly too far to walk, but it’s close enough that there isn’t a bus to take my child to school. For whatever reason, he never really liked riding a bike. A few years ago he asked for a scooter instead.
Many of the kids on the way to school have the kinds of scooters that have wheels like rollerblades. My husband always commented that with those tiny wheels and all of the rocks on the way to the school, he was going to get seriously hurt. He wanted our son to have a scooter with big thick wheels like the ones on the Hover-1 Journey Electric Scooter. With much more room to absorb the bumps and cracks in the road, he knew it would be a much safer option for our son.
Not only does the Hover-1 Journey Electric Scooter have those nice big thick wheels, as the name states, the scooter is also electric! It has a full 16-mile battery life, a 14 MPH top speed, and a bright LED headlight for safety. He could ride it to school and back for almost 2 weeks before it would need to be charged again.
The most annoying thing about a bike is that it takes up so much space in the garage. The Hover-1 Journey Electric Scooter folds in half for easy storage when it is not on the way to school. Weighing in at only 27 lbs, even my tiny 10 year old could put it away himself.
One of the main reasons our son didn’t like to ride bikes was the helmet he had to wear with it. We had to burst his bubble when we told him that he would need to wear a helmet even with the scooter. Although it is harder to take a major fall on a scooter, it can still happen, and protective gear is always a good idea. Best Buy has plenty of options too so you won’t have to hit another store before your child can be out on the road!
Our son loves his scooter and has been super happy with it. He will be bummed when it gets too cold outside to ride it again. While we don’t own the Hover-1 Journey Electric Scooter currently when he is ready for an upgrade we will definitely be checking out the electric scooter options Best Buy has!
