Previously available on the Pixel phone, Google Home devices, Android Wear and Google Allo, the Google Assistant will be making its way to more Android phones running 6.0 Marshmallow or 7.0 Nougat operating systems this week!
My phone already has an uncanny ability to let me know about stuff before I even KNOW I want to ask about it, but this will bring that added component of knowing all the things (have I mentioned lately how much I want a Google Home?) Now I can get a lot of that Google Home functionality right from my cell phone.
To access the assistant you will need to long press on the home button or say “OK Google”
- What’s my confirmation number for my New York City flight?
- Take me to the closest park.
- Show my photos of sunsets in Tahoe.
- Do I need an umbrella today?
- Turn on the living room lights.
I’m hoping it integrates as well as Google Home so I can try out “Play Hamilton soundtrack on my living room chromecast” and other super cool integration features.
I know everyone is integrating with Alexa now, it’s time for Google’s Assistant to get a little love! I wonder how she feels about Alexa? I guess I’ll ask her.
